Baandhon, another masterpiece by Jahnu Barua, won 60th national film awards for best Assamese film and a special mention award-winner for its leading man Bishnu Khargoriya. The film opened the feature film Section of Indian Panorama at the 43rd International Film Festival of India. It was also screened at the International Film Festival of Kerala Film Festival and the Mumbai Film Festival in the year 2012.he film was awarded as best flim in the Indian Films Competition held at the Bengaluru International Film Festival for the year 2012. It also became the first ever Assamese film to be released nationally on Friday, 5th July 2013.
This exceptional Assamese movie is scheduled to be screened at PVR multiplexes across Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Chennai. The film was premiered in New Delhi at PVR Anupam on Wednesday with a house packed with viewers including Assamese and non-Assamese. The film is shown under PVR Director's Rare category.
'Bandhon' is based on the 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai and its impact on an argumentative but lovable couple old couple. Veteran filmmaker Jahnu Barua captures with finesse the emotional upheaval and void the loss of a loved one creates in their lives.
