Mary Kom, daughter of Manipur, makes Indian Proud

Today Hmangte Chungneijang Mary Kom from India not only made history but also made the whole country by confirming a medal in London Olympic games, 2012.
The 29 year Mary Kom, a daughter of Manipur, brought never before glory to the North-Eastern region of India.

In the quarter final of 51 KG women boxing contest, MC Mary Kom convincingly defeated her opponent Maroua Rahali of Tunisia by 15-9.

Mary Kom, a living legend, being the five time wold boxing champion, has been devoid of an Olympic glory as women boxing was not intorduced into Olympic till this time. A glorious career of 12 years of consistence performance in the ring has taken another level with the confirmed berth in the medal tally of Olympic 51Kg women boxing.

Born in a farmer family of a small village of Manipur, Kangathei, Kom showed interest towards boxing since her school days. Though she had to hide her interests from her parents until she won Manipur state women's boxing championship in 2000. After that there was no looking back for the boxer.

We hope Mary Kom brings more joy win further contests and bring gold to us.

Mary Kom, WE, N-E INDIANS, WILL BE GRATEFUL TO YOU FOR MAKING OUR HEADS UP WITH PRIDE.
