Finally the long wait of all Papon's fans is over. His debut hindi album 'The Story So far' was released on 12th January, 2012.
It's difficult to say when to story exactly started, but for most of the music fans, it's now more than five years old. The
story emerged, when Angaraag Mahanta's first album 'Junaki Raati' was launched. The assamese album was not just like any other
popular assamese album at that time. The lazy, slow but perfectly arranged sounds and music attracted whoever listened to it.
'Junaki Raati' was not an instant hit, it crept into the hearts of the listener with the pace of the songs themselves. Within
a year, many got addicted to Angaraag Mahanta, and the album reached to the masses. This single album gave Angaraag the
strong platform and he placed himself as one of the most wanted singer of Assam in a few years.

Though Angaraag Mahanta got the popular image in Assam, his journey actually started as 'Papon' in Delhi. His first album
not only reflected assamese touch but also an indian totality. He continued his musical experiments from Delhi and formed a
band 'The east India Company'. His performances across national and international level got much attention from the audiences.
His deep and addictive voice with high-tech sound arrangements gave his music a new face and identity.
Over the years, Papon has created a fan base of himself nation-wide, but the reach to his audiences has been mostly via
direct performances only (except of course Assam). His recent playback voice in some of the popular Bollywood movies like Dum Maro Dum, made his
presence known to wider audiences. Papon has also been seen in TV programs like "MTV Coke Studio", "The Dewarists", etc.
His fans all over the country have been eagerly awaiting for a complete album from
the avant-garde singer.
Finally the long wait of all Papon's fans is over. His debut hindi album 'The Story So far' was released on 12th January, 2012.
The album name perfectly depicts the current state of the singer and tells the story till date. It's a callection of songs
Angaraag composed during his musical journey of years. It covers various musical faces and phases
of the singer till date.
Among various falovours of sounds, 'The Story Far' includes Angarag's popular number like 'Boitha Maro'. Its a true but very raw reflection
of Assamese folk songs Bihu. The song is well known among his fans for its stage rocking manner. The album hasn't forgotten
the title number from his first Assamese album "Junaki Raati". All the songs in the album are composed and arranged by Papon
himself. The number "Din Guzaarein" is one of his old composition made in 90s. Some other like 'Chotein Chotein Baatein',
'Kya Hota Hain Pyar', etc are composed few years back and released in myspace and other online spaces. Other numbers like
"Aankhee" are very fresh composition and real treat to the ears.
Overall, 'The Story So Far' is a real gift to all Papon's fans. All the numbers live upto the expectation and smell of true
papon's spirit. The album is also perfectly timed with the Magh Bihu Festival of Assam. What can be a better gift to his people!
