When the "Anuradhar Dexh" was first published in Prantik in series, it took Assamese
reader by storm. Phanindrakumar Devchowdhury was a less known novelist at that time, but
the novel mesmerized all the readers. The novel became one of the most popular novel in
Assamese literature.
The plot of the novel is not based in Assam, but far away from it in Orissa, Paradweep.
The protagonist is an oil engineer and the story beautifully flows through his life.
It was a romantic novel, but not just another one. Readers and critics liked the both
the writing style and story telling of the novel. This novel is considered to be a milestone
in modern Assamese novels.
