Rice, called Saul in Assamese, is the staple food for the region and large varieties of rice found in the region. Rice is believed to be first domesticated in the Assam-Yunnan region Joha Saul: It is regarded to be high grade rice with its unique aroma. It is generally served as a part of the main dishes of Assam. Bora Saul: This rice becomes stickier than other normal rice and used in various snacks, sweets of Assam. Bora Saul's Jolpaan(kind of break fast, light food) is very popular in Assam and it is served in occassion like Bihu, Marriage etc along with milk and Guur(molasses).
