Krishi Vigyan Kendra - Sivasagar
Agricultural research and education is essential in a country like India. Bringing productive technologies available and their rapid transfer to the farmers with appropriate training of practicing are very crucial in increasing agricultural production of the country.
Keeping this in mind, Krishi Vigyan Kendra for Sivasagar district was established in 2003 under the Assam Agricultural Unuversity with 100 per cent finance from Indian Council of Agricultural Research(ICAR), New Delhi. Its site is at Nimonagarh on Rohdoi Ali about 2.5 km from the Sila sako on Sivasagar-Sonari Road. Its primary objective is promite rural livelihood of entire Sivasagar district. Its specific mandates are-
1. To impart training to farmers and entrepreneurs on agriculture and allied activities
2. To conduct on farm testing of evolved technologies
3. To carry out front line demonstrations on crops and other allied commodities.
The K.V.K. has already established a strong bond of association with various oragnizations operating in the district and farming community.
